As we move closer to 2026, I need everyone to recognise the challenges promoters are facing—and how these issues directly affect all ravers.
Right now, venues are charging extreme prices just to hire a space. To give you an idea:
- The bottom end of the market starts at around £6,000, and that only gets you the venue until midnight (or 1am at best).
- Higher-end venues are charging up to £10,000—just for the hire fee.
From a business perspective, these numbers simply don’t make sense. It’s becoming nearly impossible for promoters to run events sustainably, let alone take creative risks or keep ticket prices fair.
Because we don’t own 99% of the venues we are constantly at the mercy of rising costs. This model isn’t working anymore.
The way forward is going back to our roots: wine bars, pubs and smaller spaces—the places where the scene originally grew. These venues are more accessible, more affordable and offer the community vibe that rave culture was built on.
I truly believe this shift is essential if we want the culture to survive and keep thriving.

The spending power of the Black community plays a strong role in today’s nighttime economy. With around 25 pubs closing every month, venues that want to survive need to embrace all communities, including the strength of the Black pound.”
